Portsmouth fury at Lawrence confusion

Portsmouth Football Club are furious as they still don’t know where they stand with their supposed signing of Liam Lawrence.
It looked as though the Republic of Ireland international was a Pompey player when the window shut, as he was part of the deal which took Marc Wilson to Stoke City.
However, the Football League are not convinced the deal was completed before the 6pm deadline, much to the anger of Fratton Park administrator Andrew Andronikou.
“The Lawrence deal has not been ratified by the Football League yet and we are still waiting to hear the outcome,” he told The News.

Portsmouth bring in Flahavan

Portsmouth Football Club have signed Daryl Flahavan on a short-term deal.
David James left Fratton Park for Bristol City before the start of the season, and Jamie Ashdown has taken the gloves from the England international.
However, Flahavan, formerly of Crystal Palace and Southend United, has been signed on a one-month contract to compete for the number one jersey.
This will be a particularly emotional move for the 32-year-old, whose brother Aaron, who was tragically killed in a car crash in August 2001, was a popular Pompey goalkeeper.

Portsmouth lead chase for Hammers youngster

Portsmouth Football Club are said to be leading the chase for Frank Nouble.
The young forward was highly rated by Premier League champions Chelsea, who were disappointed when he chose to join West Ham United last summer.
Whilst not yet being considered as a first team regular for the Hammers, he did make three top-flight starts for Gianfranco Zola last season.
Avram Grant is said to be willing to offload Nouble on loan so he can get more action, and Pompey are said to be leading Championship rivals Leicester City for his signature.
